What is BE A PRO?

Be a Pro is a group of packages focused primarily on as much realism, procedures and checklists as possible. The packages in the BE A PRO category have been prepared for people who, in addition to just flying, would also like to learn the answers to the questions of what, how and why real pilots perform during a real flight. It is also an excellent choice for those who already have some basics and wish to expand their knowledge, develop their skills and use the full capabilities of our simulators.

Description | 60-MINUTE Package (BE A PRO)

The 60-MINUTE [Be a Pro] package is a professional flight session for individuals who want to experience a pilot's work from the perspective of procedures and real operations. Following a brief theoretical introduction, the instructor discusses the flight scenario, explains key piloting elements and — depending on the participant's needs — the operation of flight deck instruments.

The participant may start the flight from the state cold & dark, practise the full FMC / CDU setup, and then perform take-offs and landings at the world's most demanding airports, including approach to land in Madeira.

This is the ideal package for those who want to delve deeper into the world of aviation and experience 60 minutes of intensive training in a professional cockpit.

Sample session outline

Step 1

Briefing and review of procedures

The instructor presents the flight scenario, checklists and key elements of piloting and cockpit crew resource management.

Step 2

Cold & Dark

Starting from a cold and dark aircraft and following the full startup procedure in accordance with airline practice.

Step 3

FMC / CDU configuration

Entering the route, flight parameters, speed and altitude, and preparing the autopilot for operation.

Step 4

Preparation for launch

Checklists, flap configuration, system tests, and setting up the aircraft for taxiing in accordance with procedures.

Step 5

Taxiing to the runway

Realistic taxi, centreline alignment, and departure preparation just like in a real airline operation.

Step 6

Take-off and climb

Full startup procedure using FMC settings and working according to instructor guidance.

Step 7

Training flight

Manoeuvres, control surface operation, stabilisation, departure and arrival procedures, or a flight to a selected demanding aerodrome.

Step 8

Approach and landing

Realistic landing approach, including the ability to perform difficult scenarios, e.g. Madeira.

Step 9

Debriefing and flight analysis

Training summary, review of completed procedures and instructor's tips for subsequent sessions.

You don't need to have experience of aviation to fly!

Flights with AirPoint are an experience for everyone — regardless of age, level of knowledge or previous contact with aviation. Our sessions are designed with adults and teenagers in mind, but we are also happy to tailor them for the youngest aviation fans. The minimum recommended age for participants is 8 years.

Our simulators are used by both real pilots, as well as people who simply want explore the world of aviation up close, try something new or simply have a great time. It is a safe, engaging and fully guided experience – ideal for a first contact with the cockpit.
